Before use

🏕️ Setting up, using & maintaining coody tents

⚒️ Preparation & Setup

Always pitch the tent on slightly elevated, dry ground – away from trees with heavy snow loads or open fires.
• Plan your setup so that you finish before nightfall.
• Use a groundsheet or tarpaulin under the tent floor to prevent dirt and moisture.
• In strong winds: Secure with additional pegs and guy lines.
• Use the included rainfly (overfly) in rain, snow or strong sunlight.

With optional additional poles (sold separately) a sunshade/awning can be stretched to cover part of the entrance area.

🌡️ Operating temperature
• Suitable for outdoor use between -15 °C and +40 °C (5 °F – 104 °F). – Manufacturer's recommendation: from 0 degrees.
• In freezing temperatures, the PVC becomes harder – the floor and air struts can become stiff as a result. This is normal and not a defect.
• Use sleeping bags with the appropriate temperature rating and additional sleeping mats or carpets for added comfort.

🔥 Heating & Insulation
• The tent has a stove jack in the roof.
• Use only wood-burning stoves with spark arrestors or safe electric heaters – open fires are prohibited.
• Always ensure adequate ventilation to avoid the formation of dangerous carbon monoxide.
• If a partition wall is used, the heat can be retained better in the sleeping area.
• Keep TPU windows closed to retain heat; open them briefly for ventilation.
• Improve insulation by adding extra carpets, blankets, or mats to the floor.

💨 Air pressure & air linkage
• When the temperature drops, the air pressure in the hoses decreases – check the pressure regularly and pump up if necessary.
• Make sure all valves are tightly closed before using the tent.

💧 Condensation & Humidity

Condensation is a natural phenomenon, comparable to fogged-up windows.
The higher the water resistance, the more likely condensation is to occur.

Our Terylene cotton fabric (TC fabric) effectively reduces condensation – however, please note the following:
• Always keep ventilation openings slightly open.
• Increase the indoor temperature slowly to minimize temperature differences.
• Use a groundsheet under the tent.
• Choose dry, airy locations with lower humidity.
• Dry the tent completely before packing or storing it.

🌧️ Protection from rain & snow
• The tent can withstand moderate rain for approximately 4–5 hours without additional cover.
• The Rainfly should always be installed during prolonged or heavy rain.
• After rainfall: Remove the Rainfly to improve air circulation and prevent condensation.
• In case of persistent rain, the Rainfly can be pre-fixed or rolled up on one side for quick unrolling.
• In case of snowfall: Attach Rainfly immediately – snow accumulation on the fabric increases the risk of moisture.
• Regularly remove accumulated snow from the roof.
• If a zipper freezes, never open it by force – instead, thaw it carefully with your hands or lukewarm water.
• After the winter season, thoroughly dry the tent before storing it.

📦 Folding & Storage
• Cold temperatures make PVC and fabric stiff, which makes folding a little more difficult.
• Vent the tent completely before packing.
• Then allow to dry thoroughly and only store when dry – ideally in a well-ventilated room.

🧹 Care & Maintenance
• Do not wear shoes or boots indoors.
• Keep sharp or pointed objects away from walls and the floor.
• Do not use the tent near chemicals, gasoline, or flammable substances.
• Mold growth and UV radiation shorten the lifespan – therefore clean regularly and use the Rainfly in strong sunlight.
• Reduce direct sunlight whenever possible.

⚠️ Fire safety information
• Handle electrical appliances with care.
• Keep entrances and emergency exits clear at all times.
• Make sure that a fire extinguisher or extinguishing agent is nearby.
• Fireworks and flammable materials must be kept away from the tent and children.

💡 Tip:

A well-maintained coody tent will last for many years.
Drying, clean storage and careful handling are key to longevity and safety.
