Camping-Wissen kompakt
Everything you should know before buying a tent — from the right size, material selection, to matching accessories.
The right tent size depends on the number of people and desired comfort. As a rule of thumb: plan for at least 2.5 sqm per person if you also want space for luggage and freedom of movement alongside the sleeping area.
Kompakte Zelte (5–8 qm) are ideal for 1–3 people who value a handy size. Mittlere Zelte (8–12 qm) offer space for small families or couples with lots of luggage. Große Zelte (12+ qm) are ideal for families, groups, or anyone who doesn't want to miss living room comfort even while camping.
Also consider ceiling height: in inflatable air tents this is usually significantly more generous than in classical pole constructions.
Inflatable air tents use air tubes instead of rigid poles. This significantly reduces setup time and makes the entire process much more comfortable — no threading, no bending, no assembling.
Advantages of inflatable tents: Faster setup (often under 10 minutes), lower risk of pole breakage, flexible re-tensioning with temperature changes, and during gusts air tubes flex instead of breaking.
Zu beachten: An air pump is needed (included with many models). Air pressure should be checked regularly and adjusted if necessary.
The more comfort a tent offers, the heavier and more voluminous it typically becomes. The question is how you get to the campsite and what priorities you have.
Mit dem Auto: Weight is a secondary concern. You can go for maximum comfort — large area, high ceiling height, awning.
Zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad: Every kilogram counts. More compact models with lower pack sizes are the better choice here.
A good compromise are medium-sized models that offer enough space without disproportionately increasing transport weight.
Wassersäule: The higher the water column, the more waterproof the tent. From 3,000 mm a tent is considered weatherproof for Central European conditions.
Material: Pay attention to the quality of outer and inner tent as well as the floor. Ripstop materials are especially tear-resistant. PU coatings provide waterproofness.
Belüftung: Good ventilation prevents condensation inside the tent. Multiple ventilation openings and mesh inserts are important, especially on warm nights.
Aufbau: How fast and easy is setup? Can one person set up the tent alone? With air tents this is usually no problem.
Packmaß und Gewicht: Essential for transport. Check if the tent fits in your vehicle or if you need to carry it.
Grundausstattung: An air pump (if not included), a tent carpet for the interior, and a good sleeping pad form the basis for comfortable camping.
Wetterschutz: An awning expands usable space and protects from rain and sun. Wind protection elements can be useful at exposed locations.
Komfort: Camping chairs, lighting, and coolers make your stay more pleasant. Especially on longer trips, investing in good furniture is worthwhile.
Pflege und Aufbewahrung: Tent bags and compression packing sacks protect your tent during storage and transport. A tent footprint protects the tent floor.
Set up your new tent at home before your first camping trip. This way you'll learn the process and make sure everything is complete.
Standortwahl: Find a level surface without stones or roots. The tent opening should not face directly into the prevailing wind direction.
Abspannen: Use all guy points and stakes — even in seemingly calm weather. Wind can pick up quickly, especially at night.
Luftdruck prüfen: With inflatable tents, observe the recommended pressure. In the morning when it's cold, pressure can drop slightly — just pump it back up briefly.

Coody Inflatable Tents — The Complete Buying Guide 2026
When looking for a tent that combines comfort, stability, and uncomplicated setup, you'll quickly discover inflatable air tents. Unlike classical pole constructions, air tents rely on TPU air tubes that fill with an electric pump in just minutes. This not only saves time — it makes your camping trip more relaxed from the very beginning.
Coody has been developing premium inflatable tents in South Korea for years. Each model is made from robust TC-Canvas — a blend of 35% cotton and 65% polyester that is breathable, water-resistant, and UV-resistant. Unlike pure polyester tents, TC-Canvas naturally regulates the interior climate: it stays pleasantly cool in summer, warmer in fall compared to similar tents.
Whether you're looking for a compact tent for two people, a spacious family tent with separate sleeping cabins, or an open shelter for cooking and gathering — our range covers all uses. All models are tested for harmful substances (Low VOC), flame-resistant, and equipped with sealed seams.
In this buying guide you'll find everything you need to know before purchasing: from the right size, material comparisons, to matching accessory combinations. Use the interactive tent finder below to discover your ideal setup.
